The Best American Idol Runner Ups

The American Idol competition is one that every contestant wants to win. after all, the automatic contract that the winner receives is an instant ticket to stardom.

A handful of great careers have been launched as a result of first place finishes. Among these are Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Jordin Sparks. all of these have become household names, all because of their presence on the show.

At the same time, a second place finish isn’t so bad itself. many second place finishers have found commercial success after the show, and some of them have found even more success than the winners who topped them.

Let’s take a look at a few of the most successful second place finishers on American Idol. all of these have many reasons to be grateful for their finish, even if it wasn’t a win.

How about season two’s runner up, Clay Aiken? if you watched the show, you must remember the nerdy appearance of this skinny guy who know one thought could ever sing. Boy, did he prove doubters wrong from the moment he belted out his first song.

Many people felt that Aiken deserved to win over Ruben Studdard, but America voted and chose Ruben. still, Aiken has enjoyed a longer lasting post-Idol career than Studdard did, and he still remains a star today. whether he’s churning out radio hits or performing on Broadway, Aiken has accomplished a lot, with a legion of fans behind him.

Another great success story is that of David Archuleta. this baby faced singer won the hearts of millions of Americans in season 7, and you’ll still find him all over the place today. the young Archuleta has a great career that lies ahead, and he’s sure to be around for quite some time.

The newest name to add to the list is last season’s runner up, Adam Lambert. many felt that Lambert was the most talented on the show, and early indications show that he’s far more sought after than winner Kris Allen was.
